ADVISORY

One of the things that makes the LIFE School special is its Advisory program.  It is, in many ways, the soul of our school.  An Advisory is a small group of students (divided by grade) that meets with an adult, known as, you guessed it, an Advisor. There are many different purposes of Advisory. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Being a small group where people trust each other to have meaningful conversations.

  • Serving as a decision-making body that helps foster a sense of community throughout the LIFE School.

  • Creating activities for the community at large.

  • Learning about social and emotional intelligence as well as other issues of particular interest and importance to its members.

  • Helping students manage their academic and personal growth.

  • Supporting and managing our internship programs.

Similarly, there are different roles that an Advisor might play during the school year. These include, but are not limited to, being:

  • A caring adult in your life whose primary concern is your happiness and well-being.A person you can go to for advice and problem solving.

  • A person who will approach you and see how things are going in and out of school.

  • A “coach” who will help you become a more effective student overall.

  • A point person between home and school.

"Advisory provides a nice break from school. It gives me time to reflect on myself and my actions."
